Juggling face

Learnt how to juggle the easy way.
Then decided to make my guy as quirky as possible.
I think the hair completes it.
Introducing...Mr. Green Face

The Little Prince (2015)

The stop motion in this film is beautiful.
From the sets to the puppets to the style.
I think they chose the perfect medium to capture the illustrations in the original book.
Also the scarf!

FEEL THE FORCE (of FKIK)

I have to admit, the kid doesn't seem to excited to push the block,
but hey maybe he's just tired
and confused about why the heck is there a block in the middle of the floor.
I'm rather proud of that little fall at the end though.
Felt like my clumsiness came out in him.

"Throw like a girl"

When I started animating this assignment
someone jokingly asked me if she was going to 'throw like a girl'.
Why? Why do people say that?
Anyways I tried my best to make her have an awesome throw.
Was going to do the whole baseball-lift leg pose but it seemed to flow better this way.

Making mini me

Made a little girl out of Japanese foam clay and wire.
Based off one of my doodles I did during class.
She sits on my bookshelf now, watching over me as I work.
Looks a bit confused though..

Smokey grey bubbles?

Pretty happy with it so far but just realized its playing at 24 frames per second.
You can see the movement better at 12 fps.
Will have to find a way to change it.

Eggplant

"A UCLA thesis film from animator Yangzi She—is the rare sort of abstract narrative"
I absolutely love this animation short.
The colour scheme, the style and the animation!
Wonder how her storyboards look like?

Walk cycle

After 3-4 attempts I think I'm starting to get somewhere.
Payed a lot more attention to the feet this time not the let them 'slip'.
Figured out stop-motion requires a happy state of mind.
If your tired or grumpy, you puppet will FEEL IT!

Planning it all out slowly

Drawing out small rough thumbnails before I start using the tablet.
Rough drawings are a must for long scripts (and everything else too).
Highlighted the significant parts of the script as well to make sure I don't forget them.

FEET OF SONG

Erica Russell's Feet of Song
The animation is just beautiful.
Seeing how the shapes become bodies and bodies become beats was stunning.
As you can tell it blew me away.
I love the movement!

Character design for de storyboard

Kept it simple, using autumnal colour (brown, orange, reds)
Will most likely stick with the same colours for my storyboard to save a bit of time.
Gave them specific face shapes too so the fox doesn't become a squirrel half way through.

Weight shift in progress

Slowly figuring out the rig and playing around with the joints.
There are so many possibilities! Ahhhh

Yawns

My first attempt at playing around with Joe Daniels rigs.
I love these new characters!
Just getting used to how each bit works and applying how muscles and joints move to the model.
Decided to go with a small tired yawn.
